Dolly Parton's Imagination Library

Dolly reads to children at the library of congress

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting books free of charge to children from birth to age five through funding shared by Dolly Parton and local community partners in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland. The United Way of Greater McHenry County is excited to announce that as of April 2024, we are the official funding partner for children in McHenry County!

This program is uniquely equipped to unite a community by fostering an inclusive environment for all children, promoting activities that heal families regardless of economic status, mobilizing the community to promote early childhood literacy, and growing local partnerships. Reading aloud with children is proven to strengthen brain development and build positive and strong relationships between parent(s) and child, directly impacting the child's social, emotional, language, and literacy skills.
