CRYSTAL LAKE – United Way of Greater McHenry County will kick off its 2016 fundraising campaign with a breakfast Sept. 21 at the Holiday Inn in Crystal Lake.

United Way board members, along local business leaders and community members, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the nonprofit’s service in McHenry County, according to a news release.

At the event, attendees will learn about United Way’s impact on improving the community, hear from individuals who have benefited from United Way-funded programs, discover how to run a successful campaign that promotes the spirit of giving back, and enter to win raffle prizes, according to the release.

Breakfast is served at 7:15 a.m. The program begins at 7:45 a.m.

United Way also will be accepting donations of women’s and children’s new or gently used coats and boots for Home of the Sparrow.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
